Whether you have crooked teeth, crowded teeth, an overbite, or any other issue with the alignment of your smile, Dr. Bethany Englund is here to help. With Candid or Invisalign at our office, you can get a straighter, healthier, and more confident smile without traditional metal braces.
Invisalign and Candid are both types of clear aligner therapy, and they work similarly. Both types of treatment use clear, strong, plastic “aligners” (sometimes called “trays”) to straighten your smile. Each aligner is made to fit perfectly over your teeth and apply gentle, steady pressure to your teeth, moving them toward the proper positions.
Each set of Invisalign or Candid aligners is worn for several weeks, and then you switch to a new one to continue the process. It usually takes between 12-18 months for Dr. Englund and our team to correct your smile and your bite, but this depends on each patient's needs.
Why should you choose clear aligners like Candid or Invisalign instead of braces? Here are just a few benefits of this new approach to orthodontic treatment:
First, you’ll meet with Dr. Englund to discuss your orthodontic options, including both Candid and Invisalign. Most patients qualify for clear aligner treatment, but if you have severe orthodontic issues, braces may be a better option.
After deciding on Invisalign or Candid, Dr. Englund will take scans of your mouth and send them to the company making your clear aligners. She will work with them to develop a treatment plan based on your own specific orthodontic needs.
In about 2-3 weeks, you’ll come back to Englund Dental to pick up your first several sets of Candid or Invisalign aligners. Dr. Englund will give you instructions on how to wear them and how to care for your teeth and your aligners, then send you home to begin your treatment.
You will need to wear your aligners for 20-22 hours per day, removing them only to eat and drink and to brush and floss. Most patients switch to a new set of aligners about every two weeks. You will also need to come to Englund Dental about every 6 weeks for a quick checkup and to pick up some new Invisalign or Candid aligners from Dr. Englund and our team.
Treatment usually takes between 12-18 months. Once you’re done with your Invisalign or Candid treatment, you’ll come in for a last appointment. Dr. Englund will provide you with a permanent or removable retainer. This keeps your teeth in the proper positions, preventing them from shifting and becoming crooked again. Enjoy your new smile!
